Nick Bradbury posted on his blog this morning about an e-mail he received. The e-mail was asking for support for a bug in FeedDemon. He indicated that he has no plans to fix this particular bug. The reason? It is a deliberate bug that appears only in cracked versions of FeedDemon.
FeedDemon is an excellent news reader and well worth the $30 that Nick charges. However, working for a software company, I've learned that software companies could charge as little as $5 for a software product and there would still be rampant piracy. It always amazes me that people think that they are entitled to free software. As a one-man software company, Nick relies on the sales of his software to feed his family. As he says:
I support my family with sales of my software, and my life is affected - dramatically - by the existence of cracks. Please, if you're using a pirated version of my software, don't expect me to help you.
Seems like a reasonable request to me. Also, check out his posts on piracy, here and here.
